I managed to knock out quite a bit of work today, including some painting and drywall patching at the Main St. house. I telecommute on Monday/Fridays, and can usually bang out my work and skip out a bit early, especially on Fridays.

Finished mulching the huge rose bed out front of our primary residence, which ended up taking 15 or so bags of mulch, and even that was stretching it a bit thin. We were a bit on the fence about how excited we were to have a big honking raised bed out in front of the house by the street with 30 or so rose bushes in it (especially since it was completely overgrown and out of control), but it looks really, really nice now with everything blooming and the new limestone border and mulch in.

I also knocked out some other odd jobs then scooted over to the Main St. house. I bought paint for the living room and dining room and tile for the kitchen backsplash last night, as we’re once again getting pounded with rain so I won’t be able to do much landscaping outside this weekend.  I got all of the drywall patched and smoothed out (mainly just repairing some cracking here and there and smoothing out some previous sloppiness by whoever installed it), and a couple of walls painted with the new color.

I was hoping to avoid having to paint all of the ceilings but I probably need to grit my teeth and do it, as it definitely needs it. The backsplash is going to be a pain in the butt as well, as I’m going to have to get jiggy with the 6×6 slate tiles I got and install them in a diamond pattern, which’ll require much cutting and gnashing of teeth. But it’s a pretty small area, as far as square footage, so I’m hoping I can knock it out tomorrow morning without too much trouble.
