Has anyone heard anything about the pennies on the dollar or tax lien memberships to get listings of all of the homes that will be going to auction as well as the steps to take to do this right? I am just curious because the system is only like 40.00 and if anyone has anything good to say about it besides the folks in the informercial I will probably just get it. I am confused at the fact that I had heard that you purchase the deed for 50-3000 dollars and thats it, free and clear???

I would like to know where to begin in the north Dallas area as well. I live near Plano and would like to get in on the real estate investing game. Should I start with the Assessor's office?

i am interested in getting into the Tax deed sales game. Problem is, I dont really know where to begin. I found a few counties in my area that have a list but am not sure about the whole process. I have read on some sites of people buying deeds for under 500 dollars but have yet to see that. Can anyone give my a push?

I to am having problems trying to find out which liens will stick. The county is kind of wishy washy. There is a lot of land that the county in Texas I am from has been sitting on. Some folks have not paid taxes for twenty years. There must be some way to shake off those liens otherwise the properties are being held hostage. You know counties expenses just keep on. Another question I have if you know it is if you bought a piece of property and it had a lien on it could the lien holders come after your assets. Thanks J.C.

So, is there a consensus on which liens survive through a tax sale? I am interested in the redeemable tax deeds, and I can do my own title searchs (work in the oil and gas business).

I know that tax deeds carry a super-priority status with regard to liens, but I want to know which liens/judgments to look for as surviving the tax sale when I do my title searches.

Thanks.

Shelly,
I can tell you how to find the properties. If you go to the website, there is usually a link that states tax sales or something similiar. You should be able to drill down into the link and get the properties that are scheduled to auction.
Hope that helps.

Did someone say they know how to check if a property has a lien on it without going through the title company? I would appreciate any information on that. Also, does anyone know how long of not paying taxes before county puts the house up for auction?
