In the midst of another marathon weekend of house work, trying to hit the finish line for the Austin house. Well, at least the finish line for the major stuff, as I plan on doing some finish trim painting and assorted stuff next week after work, as we still have to have the carpets cleaned, new stove delivered, schedule cleaning service, and other sundry stuff.
Yesterday was fairly insane and schizophrenic. I blew about half of the day wrestling with a slightly too large vanity top and other plumbing related insanity in the guest bathroom. Just one of those days (err, half days), where things decided to be as absolutely difficult as possible, every step of the process, and I think I made three trips to Home Depot/Lowes before noon. Let us not speak of it any further.
The last half of the day, though, was pretty kick-ass, as I managed to get nearly all of the tile backsplash in the kitchen done, as well as the decorative tile I’m adding around the vanity top in the master bath. This one was honestly scaring the crap out of me, as it had the potential to suck up a monstrous amount of time, but thankfully the dimensions of everything were very tile-friendly and I didn’t have to do much cutting. I would have completely finished but ran out of tile before I could get to the backsplash behind the stove.
Knock on wood, but the end is finally looming in sight. I may call in sick tomorrow to work just to get one more full day in, then knock out the rest of the stuff after work, and next Saturday/Sunday is need be. ThenI have the entire week after that off from work, so hopefully I can get geared up for another monster week of work at the Main St. house, and get the bulk of it done. Then we just need to sell the dang houses and make some money, so I can start the whole merry-go-round spinning again.
