Hmm, That Sounds Awfully Like a Clock Ticking…
June 13, 2007 |
I’d slacked off a bit after the Austin house went under contract, feeling like the worst was behind me, but things are conspiring again to produce some pretty long days of late, trying to get the Main St. house done.
My mom visiting for five days hasn’t helped the schedule, but it’s mostly my fault, as I accepted a writing assignment to cover the World Series of Poker Main Event from July5th-July 18th. Couple that with our planned vacation June 20-23rd, and I’m rapidly running out of days before I leave for Vegas in July, at which point the house really, really needs to be done and listed by.
All that translates into some pretty long days, with more on the horizon for the next few weeks. I’ve been wrestling with the ceiling tiles I’m putting in the kitchen the last few days, which is pretty slow, frustrating work. I’d never worked with Armstrong ceiling tiles before and didn’t expect them to be as flimsy and easily damaged as they are when installing, and I’d hoped to avoid having to paint them. Pretty much struck out on both accounts, so it’s taking longer than I’d hoped.
Much trim painting of late, but I’m finally reaching the end of that tunnel. I still need to sand down, paint, and rehang pretty much all of the interior doors, though, as well as the kitchen cabinets. And replace the kitchen sink and faucet at some point. And replace the disposal in our kitchen at home, which decided to crap out a few days ago. And mow the dang yards at all of the properties, yet again.
As far as the requests for updates and photos of the work I keep talking about but never displaying visually, all I can say is patience, grasshopper. I’m taking copious photos of everything and plan all sorts of wrap-up posts, as far as detailing the upgrades I made, the time they took, whether they were a bright idea or a mistake, total expenses, etc. I just simply don’t have the time for that right now, as I have to get the house down before I can sit down here and start babbling.
