I was hoping I’d come back completely re-energized from our Vegas vacation, ready to rock and roll on the Main St. house, but, eh, not so much. I’ve been putting in long hours over there the last few days but it’s been a struggle mustering up a whole lot of enthusiasm. Thankfully enthusiasm is optional, but it does make the time go by much more quickly.

I’m honestly not sure if I’ll be done with the place by July 5th, when I take off for Vegas for two weeks or so for a freelance reporting gig covering the World Series of Poker. I think I can make it, barely, but it’s going to be damn close. Interior work is nearly all doneĀ  but still a ton of work to do outside as far as landscaping, building a patio in the backyard, painting windows and trim, tiling the front porch, etc. All the rain we’ve been getting isn’t helping matters much, either, but it hasn’t been a real problem as I’ve been busy with work inside so far.

I keep reminding myself that, all things considered, it’s surprising that I’m not more burned out at this stage, as I’ve been busting my ass pretty constantly since early April, and the plan was never to tackle renovating two houses at the same time, all by my lonesome. I just need to get over this last hump, knock out all the freelancing work on my plate, take a breath or two, then start in on the next house. One house. In town. That I don’t have to drive an hour to and from. That doesn’t immediately fall behind schedule due to all sorts of unexpected circumstances.
