After two surreal weeks living and working in Las Vegas covering the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, I’m back home, staring at the remaining to-do list for the Main St. house, as far as the last things to finish up before listing it. Truth be told, motivation is a bit lacking at the moment.

Being pretty worn out is the likely culprit, as the reporting gig consisted of a lot of long work days (12 to 16 hours), which makes it hard to summon a lot of excitement for fun tasks such as replacing the kitchen sink, grouting the flagstone and tile outside, and other landscaping fun. I’m also a little disappointed in the vinyl flooring I had put down, as far as going with the faux-laminate look. Mostly my fault, as I was a bit worried about how it’d look where it butts up against the real hardwood floors (looks pretty cheap and crappy, as I feared), and I shouldn’t have had them install it in my absence, as they laid it in the opposite direction the hardwood flooring runs, which only enhances the difference. I imagine that was to reduce the number of seams but I should have made it clear that I wanted it all to run the same direction, even if it meant added cost and an additional seam.

More than anything, though, I’m just tired at the moment. I’ve been working pretty non-stop since April, and while I like to stay busy, even I run out of steam at certain points. I’m pretty resourceful at ways of rustling up extra money and income, but I need to find a better balance moving forward, and a way to actually enjoy some of that cash instead of immediately plowing into the next project, chasing the next dollar.

Whining aside, it’s back to the grind this afternoon. I really want to be done with the Main St. house and have it listed by August 1, and that ain’t going to happen unless I get my butt in gear. So it shall be.
