I think I need to find the equivalent of the 2 + 2 forums for renovation advice. :) I'm probably supposed to be using wood filler, not joint compound, but I think the jc will be fine. If I find out differently, I'll do the other rooms 'correctly'. I did read somewhere caulk was a no-no for wood (I don't know why), but I think for an outside porch ceiling, I would definetly go with a more durable wood filler. Congrats on your closing!
