Not Dead

Sorry for the lack of updates of late, but I was off on another poker reporting gig from October 24th-November 3rd, and have been pretty insanely busy of late in general.

Still plugging away on House #2. Still can’t get any contractors lined up. It’s reaching the fairly ridiculous stage, as far as finding someone willing to frame in a back porch, a bathroom addition, and other assorted work. I mean, Jesus. If you pay to advertise that you do such work, you’d think that you’d return a phone call or actually show up when you schedule a time to give a estimate for the work to be done.

I can’t say the REI spirit is high at the moment, but it’d probably be more worrying if it was. I’m basically just worn out with the whole house fixin’ gig, with no real end in sight. And I’m right back to tackling a renovation of essentially an entire house all by my lonesome, despite earlier claims to avoid exactly that by hiring out a lot of the work.

I need to get off my butt and start the process of renting out House #1, instead of clinging to the hope that a buyer will materialize. Things are really slowing down now as far as home sales, and it’s dumb (and costly) to let it sit there, hoping against hope. We reduced the price right before I left for the last reporting trip but still no nibbles.

I usually manage to keep myself pretty motivated, but juggling what’s essentially three full-time jobs is starting to wear me out a bit. On the bright side, 90% of the exhaustion is due to me being a greedy monkey and chasing extra money, so at least I can eventually cut back on the crazy schedule at some point and go back to living a much lazier life. Until then, though, things will still likely suck for the next few months, as I have to keep grinding away at House #2.
